Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly Come to the hairdressers right now, that’s a shockingly bad haircut

Hooray for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing! Our lives are complete again. This past Saturday saw the second episode of the new series, in which the girls took a spin on the dancefloor for the first time.

There’s nothing outstandingly bad to report from the show. Well, apart from some of the hairstyles. Judge Craig Revel Horwood has decided to adopt a ridiculous half-mullet, causing little tufts of hair to stick out from behind his ears. (I suppose, luckily for him, that’s better than tufts being in his ears.) I don’t know how he expects to be all mean and nasty with such a stupid haircut.

Worse still is Jessie Wallace, aka Kat “You cahn’t tell me wot to do, you’re not my muvva! YES AIII AAAAAMMM!!” Slater from Eastenders. Jessie has decided to sport a sharp, jet black bob, reminiscent of Catherine Zeta Jones’s character in Chicago. Something tells me Jessie Wallace deliberately went for this hairstyle for Strictly Come Dancing in the hope that people would mistakenly think that she’s actually a talented dancer. It’s not going to work, Jessie. It also reaaallly doesn’t suit you, dear.

Strictly Come Dancing – The “South American” Version

Both The Sun and The Daily Mail bring us very exciting news today – that foreign versions of Strictly Come Dancing aren’t hosted by Bruce Forsyth. NO! That’s not it! Silly me! The exciting news is actually that these foreign versions are ever so slightly raunchier than the UK one. Judging by the pictures in those papers and the videos on YouTube (seriously, you really may want to look this up), only one word can be used to describe this foreign Strictly… BUMS! Lots of them! Titled Bailando por un Sueño (Dancing For A Dream), the show seems to involved women dancing in pretty much the tiniest costumes ever.

The Sun reckons all this shocking behaviour happens in the Brazilian version, whilst the Daily Mail reckons it is in Argentina. One of these papers needs a geography lesson. I think this happens in Argentina.

The Sun also reports that Jordan and Peter may well take part in the next series of the UK show. The paper helpfully mocks up what they may look like on the show, as shown below:

Strictly Jordan Peter

Somewhat strange…since when do two of the celebrity participants ever dance together? Think, Sun, think.

Here I bring you my exclusive mock-up of Jordan and Peter on Strictly…

Strictly Jordan Peter

That’s Jordan on the right, in case you can’t figure it out.

By the way, Jordan would totally get paired with Brendon Cole on the show, wouldn’t she? *shudders*

*and vomits a bit*

Alesha wins Strictly!

So, Alesha Dixon won Strictly Come Dancing last night, and what a worthy winner she was! With her professional dance parter, Matthew Cutler, she proved to be a very consistent performer throughout the series. She also performed marginally better in the final over her rival Matt Di Angelo. BUT I was a little bit disappointed with her finale, the free dance. Dancing to Bonnie Tyler’s classic, I Need A Hero, there was waaay too much cape action for me. AND to me it also looked like the kind of dance that two tweenagers would make up in their bedroom on a Saturday afternoon! See here:

On the other hand, Matt Di Angelo, with dance partner Flavia Cacace, was superb with his free dance to Lenny Kravitz’s Are You Gonna Go My Way! Take a look:

On another note, I was crying throughout the final – the show is too beautiful! So entertaining, funny, warm…I could go on. X Factor, on the other hand, makes me cry bitter tears. Of pain. And regret. Stupid X Factor.
